Position Overview: (provide a brief description of the responsibilities and accountabilities for this position. Indicate the size of the organization reporting to this position, directly and overall. Describe operational, marketing, or technical responsibilities).

 

The Supplier Development Team Leader is responsible for managing the Supplier Development Processes and activities related to Supply Chain Management to improve supplier performance. This necessitates identifying new suppliers based on business needs, rationalizing the supplier base, qualifying, developing and monitoring of those suppliers, root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action activities, quality control/quality assurance activities related to purchased parts and subsequent assembly of those purchased parts into final products. This process applies to all suppliers (domestic and/or international) as well as internal and external to Goodrich.

 

This position will manage the activities of technical and non-technical professionals on the Supplier Development Team (supplier engineering, and supplier quality management)

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a regular supplier measurement system (supplier scorecard) and routinely report results to the supplier and internal supply chain resources for action.
  • Participates in Commodity Strategy development efforts, concentrating on supplier capability enhancement and/or rationalization.
  • Monitor Supplier Performance through the use of scorecards and supplier non-conformance data, communicates with suppliers, and facilitates supplier improvement or mitigation efforts.
  • Interface and coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing for Supplier VA/VE programs.
  • Maintain Qualified Supplier List (QSL)
  • Train suppliers to processes and requirements including CI as required.
  • Supplier Selection Team Member whose responsibilities include recommendations for supplier audits, training, status changes, additions, removals, corrective actions, review of supplier performance evaluations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and correction for repetitive supplier problems.
  • Review and approve new Suppliers (Unapproved and Developmental).
  • Act as a Supplier Liaison for supplier Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
  • Investigates problems with process or system procedures, evaluates root cause, recommends corrective action and follows-up to ensure that action was effective.
  • Performs, leads, direct external audits of Quality Systems at suppliers per the supplier audit and assessment processes. (including doc to stock recommendations).
  • Interface with Procurement/Sourcing, Product Engineers, Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineer personnel on supplier issues and training.
  • Participates in Quarterly Business reviews as required with both suppliers and customer.
  • Participates in readiness reviews for new product introductions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience.
  • BS Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • May substitute Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience in a commodity management or purchasing leadership role.
  • Three or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Results oriented, with sound judgment. 
  • Experienced in supplier or procurement quality, or manufacturing engineering field.
  • Strong statistical data analysis and sampling plans skills.
  • Material Review Board (MRB) experience.
  • Knowledge of inspection tools, measurement and calibration system.
  • Knowledge of ISO/AS/QS or other certification standards programs
  • Demonstrated Presentation skills
  • Working use proficiency in MS Office product (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability to problem solve, exercising creativity with practical solutions.

 

Desirable:

·         Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt, and/or Green Belt certification preferred.

  • Lean Practitioner and evidence of successes
  • Three to five years experience in Supply Chain Management or Quality Assurance field.
  • ASQ Certification in Quality Engineering is preferred.
  • High Mix – Mid to Low volume manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of geometric dimension and tolerance preferred.
