Title: Senior Buyer

Position Overview

Plan, negotiate and administrate purchase orders to support manufacturing activities with minimal oversight of supervisor. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze inventory to identify areas of opportunity to optimize all levels of material within the facility and implement improvements to capitalize on identified opportunities. 
  • Negotiate and implement LTAs with minimal oversight of supervisor.
  • Schedule supply chain deliveries to support production to optimize inventory.
  • Administer pull schedules to optimize supply chain inventory while supporting customer requirements.
  • Plan external supply orders, understanding capacities, communicate with supply chain to support on-time delivery of material.
  • Manage purchase order release process.
  • Establish and maintain order policies and lead times for responsible product.
  • Support/maintain established inventory policies and procedures including, but not limited to, cycle counting, point-of use, FIFO inventory, returnable containers procedures and engineering change effectively control.
  • Maintain filing system to support immediate job functions, ISO requirements and related industry requirements.
  • Develop and optimize work-in-process levels to maximize quality and throughput to best meet customer requirements.
  • Reduction in on hand inventory of 15% without impacting delivery to customer requirements.
  • Adheres to all Goodrich rules and codes of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years prior parts management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives by telephone, in person, or through written communication.
  • Solid knowledge of materials management theories processes and practices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with the ability to work effectively with all levels of customers and company personnel.
  • Leadership behavior including a strong focus on internal and external customer satisfaction; exhibits and encourages sense of urgency; promotes a work environment which promotes creativity, informed risk taking and continuous improvement; sets and achieves ambitious goals.
  • Must be highly competent in assimilating quickly to new assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively lead a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to understand and balance capacities of manufacturing cells/work centers which maximizes shop delivery and effectiveness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or, in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, high school diploma and three years of directly related experience which yields an equivalent level of knowledge and abilities.

§          Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
